A stone chapel on a mountain outside Porto where generations of people married. The residency was about opening it to new kinds of ceremonies. I researched syncretic music and the collision between Catholic and indigenous traditions in Latin America, what it means when a space tied to one kind of belonging gets repurposed for something more open. The source material came from Colombian indigenous recordings, ecclesiastical music, and field recordings from the garden itself. The set was built to hold both histories at once, without trying to resolve the tension between them.
